Serving beer in Needham for 180 years.
The Red Lion has been a pub for nearly two centuries. In 1836 the landlord was a certain Mr Samuel Alecock, but the building dates back to the 1780s or probably earlier. It is now a listed building and a couple of centuries of life as a pub have given it warmth and character.
The bar and restaurant has a crackling open fire, sofas and there’s a free pool table in a room off to one side. Outside, our deck area overlooks the garden and campsite and is a lovely place to sit with a cool drink on a warm summer evening.
Being a family run pub, we know that families will like the children’s play area and the pets corner with our rabbits and guinea pigs.
The Red Lion Team
The Red Lion is a Free House and a family business, run by landlord Michael Massey, parents Sue and Joe and a great team of bar staff and chefs. We all do everything we can to put the Red Lion at the heart of the community, support local businesses and employ local people.
